It was with great pleasure that His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan supported the race meeting in Pyatigorsk, Russia on 31 July. His Highness is particularly keen to support countries who value the traditions of Arabian racing which include races run over longer distances, such as are held in Russia.
Russia and Poland are alone in having a long, continuous history of using racing as one of several tests for selecting and proving the value of their breeding stock. This is surely one of the reasons for the outstanding success of their bloodlines in the last half century in many spheres around the world. HH Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan is also greatly concerned about maintaining the purity of the Arabian racehorse. He wishes to encourage breeders to value and preserve their original lines, to maintain as wide a gene pool as possible and ensure true Arabian type is preserved for future generations. Breeders continue to have a responsibility to uphold this heritage and His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan hopes that his sponsorship will play some part in encouraging breeders in this work.
