With her ears pricked, the Iraqi sponsor's homebred filly Gharra'a, by russian sire Matador, won the Al Nujaifi Scandinavian Arab Derby at a rainsoaked Jägersro by a long length from dutch raider Athlete del Sol. Breaking the track record with five seconds in the process!
Five lenghts behind another dutchman Sartejano took third place with plenty of daylight to his stable companion Tequila du Breuil. All three dutch horse are french bred by Dormane. Swedish bred Joshua Brown (Samsheik) took fifth place.
Gharra'a is one of Dr Al Nujaifis horses that are trained in Sweden by Pia Höiom. And after this win the plan is to go to Ascot for the UK Arabian Derby on July 23. Where she, just ast last night, will be ridden by young jockey-star Shane Karlsson - who is turning out to be somewhat of an arabian specialist.
Later in the day Onsala Arabians black and white colours were carried to victory by their homebred filly Maggia (by Portmer out of Madora/ Dormane) in the Chateau Ksara Arabian Cup over 6 f.. by a neck from Al Raai with UA Bey Shaka third, Al Harith fourth and Siba fifth.

This was Maggias 2nd straight win, and she is one in a string of 8 horses owned by breeder Onsala Arabians. Four are in training with Camilla Nilsson in Sweden, and four with Bill Smith in the UK. Maggias sire is Onsala Arabians homebred Amer-son Portmer out of Portella (NL).
