The Wathba Stud Farm Cup race series is part of HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival.
Poulain Kossack, ridden by Leonie Vethaak, finished ahead of Omni D A, ridden by Mike Sultana up. Lilij Ann, under jockey Anthony Deau settled for third place.
It was his second win in the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival’s series, having won the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup under lady jockey Jadey Peitrasiewicz at the same racecourse on June 21, 2011.
This is also the fourth race in the Wathba Stud Farm Cup series to be held in the Netherlands this season, aimed to promote small breeders and stable owners and one of the most successful of HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahayn Global Flat Racing series.
Ms Lara Sawaya, Director of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival and Head of International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing (IFAHR) Ladies Racing said: “Already this year we had four races in this series which is perfectly setting up for the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup to be held in Germany next month. We are delighted with the success of the series which becoming better and better with every passing year.”
WJ de Ruiter, IFAHR Treasurer and also the President of the Dutch Arabian Racing Committee (DARC) who also attended the race expressed his gratitude to HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affaires for his support for Arabian horse racing. “Since Sheikh Mansoor started supporting the races, there is a positive change in the Arabian Horse racing in Holland,” he said.
The H.H Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival is organized by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority and co-ordinated by Abu Dhabi Sports Council in association with Emirates Arabian Horse Society and IFAHR, supported by General Authority for Youth and Sports and Fegentri with Emirates airlines as the official carrier and sponsored by Invest AD, Al Rashid Investment, Areej Al Ameerat, Mauzan, Al Awani General Enterprises, Kabale, the UAE's General Women's Union, the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition 2012, Wathba Stud Farm and Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club.
