Owners and trainers of runners in Friday’s Arabian Derby, The President of the UAE Cup, will be able to review Sectional Timing and Tracking data (STATS) for the first time for a major event in the Arabian racing calendar.

The Group 1 race for Pure Bred Arabians forms part of the card on the second day of Newmarket’s Piper Heidsieck July Festival and following the announcement that TurfTrax, in conjunction with British Champions Series and Newmarket Racecourses, will be recording sectional times for all races at the three-day fixture is set to break new ground.

Antonia Newman, the Arabian Racing Organisation’s Racing Manager, said, “It’s great news that we will have access to sectional times for one of our most important races of the season. Many of our owners compete regularly on the international stage at venues where sectional timing is commonplace and it is a real benefit to be able to offer the same facility here in the UK.”

The President of the UAE Cup will be run at 4.45 p.m. as race seven on an eight race card. TurfTrax Managing Director Mike Maher said, “We are pleased to be able to provide additional data to the owners and trainers and are looking forward to seeing how the data for the Pure Bred Arabian’s compares with the thoroughbreds. From a technical point of view it makes no difference to our operation, we will be treating the UAE Derby in exactly the same way as the other races at the meeting.”
