MUSHRAE (Munjiz) set the pace and was travelling well under Christophe Soumillon who lost his whip 200 m from the finishing post, it might have cost him the race. In the end it was a photo finish, a nose separated the first two.
Jean-Bernard Eyquem, Dahor de Brugère’s jockey said afterwards “he is still a baby but he is small champion. He is progressing all the time”.
His trainer Jean-François Bernard : “I thought we were beaten halfway down the straight, what he did was extraordinary, to come back from so far, maybe the fact that Christophe Soumillon lost his whip helped…It was his first 2 000 m race, he showed us he stays the distance and we have two months now to get him ready for Saint-Cloud (Qatar Arabian Trophy des Poulains Gr.1 PA)”.
