Poulain Kossack beating favorite Al Tair in the Group II Qatar Cup (Prix Dragon) at Longchamps
Poulain Kossack, owned and trained by Huub Oterman won the Euros 25,000 worth race, beating favourite Al Tair by a nose.
The horse from Holland also got the better of another top competitor, TM Fred Texas, enroute to victory. Both Al Tair and TM Fred Texas are from Qatar.
TM Fred Texas finished third while Mu’Azzaz was fourth.
Though Fred Texas was running on turf for the first time, he did put in a gallant display which pleased its proud owned HE Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al Thani.
It was an outstanding ride by Pietrasiewicz that enabled the six-year-old bay colt Poulain Kossack pip HH Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al Thani owned Al Tair of Umm Qarn. Alban de Mieulle trained Al Tair was ridden by Oliver Peslier.
In his previous outing, Poulain Kossack was far away from other contenders in the prestigious Qatar Arabian World Cup at this same venue, Longchamp. That race was contested in the month of October last year. Then, Al Shahania Stud’s Areej had clinched the Qatar Arabian World Cup.
