Recent Group 1 winner Radames heads the declarations published by the Arabian Racing Organisation (ARO) yesterday, for the Royal Cavalry of Oman Clarendon Stakes (Group 2 PA). The five furlong sprint, to be held at Newbury racecourse on Betfred Ladies Day on 13 August, is one 20 races sponsored by the Royal Cavalry as part of their increased sponsorship package with ARO this season.
Heading the list is Radames, who made great progress last month when winning the Group 1 PA Jebel Ali Za’abeel International Stakes at Dubai International Arabian Races, also at Newbury. Run over the same course, he will have a furlong less to travel and faces Kao Kat MHF, who was just over a length behind him. In what promises to be a fascinating contest, Radames carries a penalty for that win, which could be enough to see those placings reversed. Added to the mix is Jaldi Karo, who beat Radames first time out over further, plus some young unexposed horses who could improve to challenge the UK’s new champion sprinter.
ARO Racing Manager Amanda Smith commented. “We are hugely grateful to The Royal Cavalry of Oman for their sponsorship of this Group Race. The Royal Cavalry is one of ARO’s most loyal supporters and the grass roots of Arabian racing as well as Group level horses benefit from their sponsorship. I am delighted that they are sponsoring our season finale this year, to be run at Chelmsford City on 25 September, as that is always a very popular raceday and is sure to provide a memorable end to the UK Arabian racing season.”
