Morshdi, owned by Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Head of Dubai Police and Police Security, won the fourth leg of the 2001 Emirates World Series, EWS-the UAE Grosser Preis von Baden for three-year-olds. The EWS trophy presentation was attended by Hartmana Baron von Richthofen, President of Internationale Club, Baden Baden, winner trainer Michael Jarvis, winning jockey Philip Robinson, Michael Murtagh and Franziska Shelling-Coffey of Darley Stud and Maurice Flalagan, Group Managing Director, Emirates airlines.

Horse racing fans came from all over Germany, Europe and other parts of the world came to watch this German Thoroughbred with the highest prize money yet at DM 1.7 million. Fifteen TB horses from Germany, France, United Kingdom and Ireland participated in the event. This was the first victory for Morshdi this year having tasted three victories in 2000. Morshdi now lies joint fourth in the standings with Captain Steve (Winner of Dubai World Cup), Galileo, (winner of the King George VI and Quesn Elizabeth Diamond Stakes) and Silvano (winner of the Arlington Million.).
